Slander and other stories

This agenda is for the Wednesday 10/19/11 meeting of Hidden Village Condo. Association. It includes a proposal to shut down the website posted below. The only reason given is that the President does not like the person who created and maintains it at no charge for the Association. The "HiddenVillage.org" sign by the entrance, was already removed without warning.

The latest slander against me: I called someone who posted their apt. for rent on the bulletin board. I left a message asking why she had not posted on the Condo website. I wanted to know if there was a problem. She said that she tried the website, but that the request was never answered. I gave her my direct personal email address, and also put another address on the website to avoid that forwarding problem, again. She thought she did something wrong with by posting on the board. I assured her three times, that she did nothing wrong, and thanked her for contacting me. She said she would email me before the end of the month (3 days of Sept.) My wife, who is a board member, forwarded this email to me from the President of the board to the management company for the next meeting: "Agenda Item: Shutting down the Hiddenvillage.org website. We apparently have a new problem dealing with Mr. Lerner. My understanding is an owner who wants to rent their unit put their notice & phone number on the bulletin board. It is further my understanding that Mr. Lerner obtained the number contacted this lady and advised her she couldn’t post to the public bulletin board and that it had to be posted on the we

bsite. The term being used is that he harassed her to place the notice on the website. This lady apparently advised Juan about this after Mr. Lerner’s phone call to her. Obviously, other board members are not at all happy about this. Please have this on the agenda for the next meeting."

I was peeking inside the new old-fashioned Barber-Shop here in Lake Mary, Florida today. The barbers by the pool table were waving for me to come in. I took off my hat to show my bald head. They started laughing.

To all the people who can't read this because they are not on Face-Book: Face to face, face news, face TV, face telephone, face VCRs, face microwave ovens, face the Internet, face DVRs, face smart phones, Face life, FaceBook. Face it, FaceBook is being able to come home again and face your life.

I received a current Wendy's advertisement in my postal mail box. It has a picture of Dave Thomas, when he was alive many years ago. It stated that Dave is introducing a new sandwich. Does this sound Kosher?

I went to the bank today, and then discovered that they are Italian, and not open today due to Columbus.

I have been planting the many cactus petals that have been wacked or run over by the landscapers the past weeks from Elanor cactus.

My sugar and cream drink is so yummy when I flavor it with fresh brewed coffee!

I am surprised and puzzled by my sister. She never replied to my emails and messages for months, joins Facebook for the first time ever in July 2011, only has 3 friends, and it does not include me or accept my FB friend request. Then I am told by someone else that she's not on anymore. She decided it was too much and didn't want to be on.

I enjoy my daily sugar-cream water flavored with coffee.

I walked to my pool today. It was hot out. When I got to my Cabana, I was hot, so I took off my T-shirt. I was hot. I walked along my veranda,and jumped into the pool. It was hot. After a while, I walked out of the pool for a while. I was hot. Later, after I walked home, and walked inside, it was delightful.

Never thought I would end up Marrying at 52, and even less, then us both retiring in Florida at age 53. Fantasies of winning lots of money to do that - maybe.

Do not let that small phrase "History International" on the bottom of the "HI" logo fool you. It is the HITLER channel. All they show are programs about WW2.

I never dreamed I would have over 200 friends on Facebook. I was often thrilled if I had one friend anywhere.

It just occurred to me that "The Christian Science Monitor" is an oxymoron.

8/17/11 The first person ever, came up to me, to compliment my Newsletter and Website that was started around June 2011. This happened after tonight's Hidden Village Board Meeting. My wife is on the Board. I was given absolutely no recognition whatsoever, as usual. People do not even make eye contact, say hi, or know that Margaret is my wife. I have experienced this treatment for most of my life, not that I'm happy with it.

Greatest Event of My Life!

I have received one of the most fantastic long-awaited news items of my life! I am extremely happy and exited! I have been jumping, yelling, running around, and waving my hands. Fluffy is traumatized.  I can not explain publicly here what this news is. Please just be happy for me. This day was possibly the best and most important day of my life. This life changing event is vindication and empowerment of my life-long struggle.

I am not going to Disney world (it is $85 admission + $14 parking.) This is my 1/3 birthday, the summer solstice, longest day of the year, and the first day of Summer. My mid-term exam is tonight. Strauss, Rita Hayworth, Helmut Schmidt, and Donald Regan. There was the Flu Pandemic and WW1. Established was Daylight Daving Time, and regular airmail service. New zodiac signs 2011

Up until now I have been misinformed! I always thought I was a "fish out of water"! Now I know I am the water itself! Aspies are like a "fish out of water" when it comes to the NT social culture, Aspie's are well advised to not make sales a career. This fishy phrase is an idiom of the English language. Idioms are hard to understand by Aspies, and find them to be idiotic. Under the "wrong" definition of the zodiac signs, I was considered a Pisces(♓), the fish sign. Now I learn I am really Aquarius(♒), the water sign. Therefore, is 2011 the dawning of the age of Aquarius? At least now I know why I hate fish. Now we know that, instead of 12, there are really 13 original signs. The US had 13 original colonies. Should we now change the calendar to 13 months? Can we call that month Asperger? Hans Asperger has done more to explain me than my horoscope. Maybe we should add the Zodiac sign of Aspieus. It would be between Aquarius and Pisces, and include Feb. 21.

Fighting off intollerence.

I am so amazed at how much energy and happiness can be derived from Biking 10 miles, spending time with friends, and eating fresh food. Imagine how much more productive I could have been most of my life with friends, exercise, and fresh food! It has taken me half a century for me to feel safe on this planet, so I can crack the code on how to make friends, and bring down the shields, now that the artillery fire has subsided, and my Nemesis's have died or been defeated. It is safe now to discover and experience life.

During my life, my greatest friend, the video display, has provided me five of the greatest inventions ever: TV, PC, Internet, WWW, and FaceBook.

My Focus

I have received MAIL. A reader asked me: "My only questions is, why focus on the Asberger's aspect of your personality as opposed to your entire personality? You are Andrew before you are someone with Asberger's Syndrome."

I do not understand your reply above. An Aspie is someone who has Asperger's Syndrome. As an Aspie, I do not think the same way as NT people do. I explain primarily myself in my Web Log, especially with what I individual write. My primary interest is for the reader outside of me, to discover, know, and understand me. To say that I am an Aspie, helps one understand me through an established general definition. Your difference from me is invisible, and has a significance. Someone's race (like black or white) is noticeable but has no tangible difference in who one is. Every individual has a unique personality. Aspie does not mean or define one's personality. My personality is affected by using the Aspie operating system. I was born that way, as well as being named Andrew. It is who I am. As consequence of this, some commonalities of me and Aspie's are noticeable when compared to NT's. My Blog represents me as an individual first. It has been a very frustrating and lonely life for me. It was for not knowing my specific parameters or restraints when compared with typical people. Finally discovering the name of A.S., for my set of parameters, has given me profound focus, understanding, confidence, and empowerment. I now know my unique gifts of strengths, and defined limits. So as to promote greater understanding, communication, and cooperation of all people, I am driven to make all people, Aspie or NoT, know of our differences. I know myself, and report what I can most identify with in traits of all others. I explain these similarities I have with Aspies, and the differences with NT's. NTs are not all the same, neither are Aspies all the same. I have sets of similarities with "New Yorkers", Jews, and Aspie's. I do not share all traits or characteristics of either of these groups. However to know them, helps to understand me. I explain how a Typical Aspie is like me. I do not try to fit any stereotype of what an Aspie is. I was born a Jew. I do not deny I am a Jew. However, I find religion, such as being Jewish, inconsequential. I am not religious. I am Agnostic. I do not define this as my religious identity or persuasion. It is my purpose for living. That is of seeking knowledge for its own sake. I hope that others, who read the information that I provide, can help them realize their identity and focus, for a more productive and meaningful life. I am very much a unique individual first, and am not easily persuaded to conform. In some ways, it is impossible to conform to Typical people. I do not have a disease. There is nothing to be cured. I love who I am the way I am. This individual thinking is a strong commonality of Aspie's that contrasts us from NTs. I am an Aspie. Get used to it!

• Some folks when reading constantly about how you state you are Aspie may think that.Others may think you may use "ASPIE" to label yourself and follow some sort of guidelines that have been established by other information out there posted by researchers, doctors, ASPIES etc.

  • OK. Just try to think outside of the ASPIE box once in a while, which I know you do. Find a NT list and try a few of the listed charasteristics. You may surprize yourself!

Hopefully you can see my continuous frustration. I experience "after guilt", when it is explained by them, after my action, that I upset them. NT "characteristics" have been treated as the standard" It is the different way in which Aspies process information that needs to be made aware of by all Neuros.

It is rare that people have the courage to be so open, honest, blunt and direct to me. People instead get constantly annoyed by me because I do not know.

Viewpoint and Motive.

My viewpoint and motive is of the now and worldly. Some may find that there is a missing part. It may be refereed to as the spiritual or higher self. I do not recognize this. People perceive me as if my "inner being" does not feel or perceive. Death is Free.

AS is a “pervasive developmental disability.” That is, people with AS may often appear or act younger than others of the same age. Children with AS often show delays in multiple areas of functioning, such as gross or fine motor coordination, social skills, or executive functioning (organization, prioritizing, and follow-through). The brains of people with AS seem to process information and sensory stimuli differently than the brains of neurotypical (NT) people. This can be a source of difficulty, but it can also be a strength. For example, people with AS are often very good at noticing visual details or remembering facts, skills that are useful in many professions. On the other hand, the same people may be too perfectionistic, become too obsessed with details, or have so much trouble seeing the big picture that they cannot complete a project.

While respecting the abilities and humanity of people with AS, one should not underestimate their struggles and suffering. A society designed for and dominated by the neurotypical majority (i.e., people who do not have AS) can feel uncongenial and even overwhelming for a person with AS. In particular, living in the United States in the modern information age—in a crowded, complex, industrial society—can pose real challenges for people with AS. American children are generally expected to “play well with others” and grow up fast. Adults are expected to work 40-60 hour weeks under fluorescent lights, to attend meetings, work on teams, rapidly absorb oceans of information, and multi-task. Solitary pursuits such as hunting, farming, or tending a light house are less available today.

People with Asperger Syndrome usually experience:

* Difficulty knowing what to say or how to behave in social situations. Many have a tendency to say the “wrong thing.” They may appear awkward or rude, and unintentionally upset others.
* Trouble with “theory of mind,” that is, trouble perceiving the intentions or emotions of other people, due to a tendency to ignore or misinterpret such cues as facial expression, body language, and vocal intonation.
* Slower than average auditory, visual, or intellectual processing, which can contribute to difficulties keeping up in a range of social settings—a class, a soccer game, a party.
* Challenges with “executive functioning,” that is, organizing, initiating, analyzing, prioritizing, and completing tasks.
* A tendency to focus on the details of a given situation and miss the big picture.
* Intense, narrow, time-consuming personal interest(s) — sometimes eccentric in nature — that may result in social isolation, or interfere with the completion of everyday tasks. (On the other hand, some interests can lead to social connection and even careers. For example, there are children and adults with an encyclopedic knowledge of vacuum cleaners.)
* Inflexibility and resistance to change. Change may trigger anxiety, while familiar objects, settings, and routines offer reassurance. One result is difficulty transitioning from one activity to another: from one class to another, from work time to lunch, from talking to listening. Moving to a new school, new town, or new social role can be an enormous challenge.
* Feeling somehow different and disconnected from the rest of the world and not “fitting in”—sometimes called “wrong planet” syndrome.
* Extreme sensitivity—or relative insensitivity—to sights, sounds, smells, tastes, or textures. Many people outgrow these sensory issues at least to some extent as they mature.
* Vulnerability to stress, sometimes escalating to psychological or emotional problems including low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive behaviors.
* Normal to very high intelligence
* Good verbal skills, including rich vocabularies
* Originality and creativity including a propensity for “thinking outside the box”
* Honesty and ingenuity
* Careful attention to details
* Strong work ethic, with particular attention to accuracy and quality of work
* Special interests that can be tailored toward productive work or hobbies; individuals with AS who have intensive knowledge in one or more specific areas can channel their expertise toward new discoveries and creations in their chosen field
* Keen senses allow some people with AS to see, hear or feel subtle changes in the environment that others do not, resulting in phenomenal powers of observation

• Lack of interest in sex - Aspies do have sex, but in general are far less pre-occupied with such activities than NTs. It certainly isn't the main object of life. The sex drive is base instinct, something that drives the animals. The fact that Aspies are less sexually driven than the population at large suggests that they have evolved further from these base animal instinct. Socrates described man as being part animal and part Divine. Following this reasoning, the lack of interest in sex demonstrates an evolutionary step away towards the divine.
• Not socially driven - NTs are perfectly happy in social situations. They will sit and talk and drink happily all day. There is a basic chemical/hormonal mechanism at work (Oxytocin, etc.) which in a way is an addiction. This is similar to the social animals, and there is nothing wrong with this - it creates a harmonious society suitable for supporting a large population without conflict. Aspies are chemically/hormonally different. The social interaction does not affect them the same way - thus suggesting they have evolved away from it.
• Honesty - Aspies are known for being frank and honest. Individuals with the opposite trait, those who are shady, sly, dishonest, are often regarded as being of lower standing and less advanced. Honesty and integrity are qualities of evolved persons.
• Advances in art, music, science - history has shown us that some of the greatest advances have been made by individuals who would probably be classified as Aspergers. For example, Einstein, Mozart. This enhanced ability in certain areas suggests an evolutionary step.

A Clockwork Orange Day

You will have an extra hour that day to work on your clocks. 11/7/10 is clockwork day. You experience one whole hour twice. After 1:59am daylight savings time, it will be 1am standard time! I created this artwork during October 2003, for display in my window every 10/31 since then. It is usually on or near this date, that there is clockwork to do. This could give an hour sooner of darkness, which is appropriate in celebration of the scary holiday.

It is Orange day on Sunday 10/31/10. Orange is the popular color for the Halloween holiday, and the color of pumpkins. I superimposed a clock over a pumpkin. This represents two events. Since the clockwork is on something orange, it also implies the name of a motion picture.

There are many parallels of commonalities of both this holiday, and the movie titled A Clockwork Orange. One similarity of the two subjects is the doorbell. In both, the doorbell warns of scary monsters capable of doing evil heinous terrifying crimes. In both, the goblins wore costumes and cosmetics. In the movie, there was a strict policy not to answer the doorbell so as to avoid any criminal perpetrators. The door was opened, not knowing of the monsters and horror and terror to greet them. On the holiday, there is a policy to instead frequently open the door. Instead, it is expected to see goblins and monsters at the door.

Notice, that in the movie, all of the victims were wearing orange. In my home, I have a strict no-answer doorbell policy. This sign I put in the window, may scare people. That is what this holiday is all about. By this posted sign, I am warning people to go away. I will not answer the door. To me, children are monsters, and I want them to stay away from me. I dread this holiday, and want it to go away.

I do keep an orange lava lamp in my window. It goes on at dusk. The Artist to the left or above, is Brian Warner. I enjoy his songs, specifically Beautiful People and Sweet Dreams. His stage name is Marilyn Manson.

An interesting questionnaire for Palestinian Advocates

If you are so sure that " Palestine , the country, goes back through most of recorded history," I expect you to be able to answer a few basic questions about that country of Palestine :
1. When was it founded and by whom?
2. What were its borders?
3. What was its capital?
4. What were its major cities?
5. What constituted the basis of its economy?
6. What was its form of government?
7. Can you name at least one Palestinian leader before Arafat?
8. Was Palestine ever recognized by a country whose existence, at that time or now, leaves no room for interpretation?
9. What was the language of the country of Palestine ?
10. What was the prevalent religion of the country of Palestine ?
11. What was the name of its currency?
Choose any date in history and tell what was the approximate exchange rate of the Palestinian monetary unit against the US dollar, German mark, GB pound, Japanese yen, or Chinese Yuan on that date.
12. And, finally, since there is no such country today, what caused its demise and when did it occur?
You are lamenting the "low sinking" of a "once proud" nation.. Please tell me, when exactly was that "nation" proud and what was it so proud of?
And here is the least sarcastic question of all: If the people you mistakenly call "Palestinians" are anything but generic Arabs collected from all over -- or thrown out of -- the Arab world, if they really have a genuine ethnic identity that gives them right for self-determination, why did they never try to become independent until Arabs suffered their devastating defeat in the Six Day War?
I hope you avoid the temptation to trace the modern day "Palestinians" to the Biblical Philistines: substituting etymology for history won't work here.
The truth should be obvious to everyone who wants to know it. Arab countries have never abandoned the dream of destroying Israel ; they still cherish it today. Having time and again failed to achieve their evil goal with military means, they decided to fight Israel by proxy. For that purpose, they created a terrorist organization, cynically called it "the Palestinian people" and installed it in Gaza , Judea, and Samaria . How else can you explain the refusal by Jordan and Egypt to unconditionally accept back the "West Bank" and Gaza , respectively?
The fact is, Arabs populating Gaza, Judea, and Samaria have much less claim to nationhood than that Indian tribe that successfully emerged in Connecticut with the purpose of starting a tax-exempt casino: at least that tribe had a constructive goal that motivated them. The so-called "Palestinians" have only one motivation: the destruction of Israel , and in my book that is not sufficient to consider them a nation" -- or anything else except what they really are: a terrorist organization that will one day be dismantled.
In fact, there is only one way to achieve peace in the Middle East . Arab countries must acknowledge and accept their defeat in their war against Israel and, as the losing side should, pay Israel reparations for the more than 50 years of devastation they have visited on it. The most appropriate form of such reparations would be the removal of their terrorist organization from the land of Israel and accepting Israel's ancient sovereignty over Gaza , Judea, and Samaria .
That will mark the end of the Palestinian people.

Working With Someone With Asperger's

People with Asperger's syndrome have trouble reading social cues. They can be long-winded, insensitive and impolite, often failing to look people in the eye. They can also produce remarkable creative breakthroughs. For instance, Temple Grandin, an animal scientist with Asperger's, invented a humane, efficient way to slaughter cattle. Forbes was among the first to profile Grandin (in 1998), and her life story was the subject of a 2010 HBO documentary.

How do the rest of us get along in the workplace with these unusual people? Asperger's, considered a mild form of autism, was first identified in 1944 by Viennese pediatrician Hans Asperger. He called his patients "little professors," because many had above-average intelligence, and they tended to become obsessed with arcane subjects. Psychiatric authorities accepted the syndrome as a disorder in 1994, though there's some dispute about whether it should continue to be identified as separate from other autistic conditions. Estimates vary on the prevalence of Asperger's, from 1 in 5,000 to as many as 1 in 500.

For advice on how so-called neurotypicals can work side by side with "Aspies," we turned to Grandin and to Jeffrey Deutsch, an Aspie who runs a consulting firm called Aspies Linking with Neurotypicals, or A SPLINT, which offers coaching to people with Asperger's, their families and employers.

Grandin and Deutsch say you should communicate with Aspies as specifically and clearly as possible. "You can't just say to an Aspie, 'Develop new programs,' or 'Develop a new sales plan,'" Grandin explains. "Aspies need clear instructions on what the job is." Expect them to tackle one project at a time, she adds. "They absolutely cannot multitask."

An example of a set of directives an Aspie can follow, says Grandin: "I want you to develop software to use on phones for finding restaurants really easily." Offer as much additional detail as possible, like how much memory you want the software to take up and how easy it should be to use.

E-mail is a great tool for communicating with an Aspie, both Grandin and Deutsch say, and deadlines should be made crystal clear. "Don't be vague with a person with Asperger's," advises Grandin. "It's better to set an actual date."

Give Aspies specific instructions about behaviors you find annoying or difficult, even in nonwork matters. Grandin says she used to have a problem with her own personal hygiene, including body odor, until a boss told her plainly that she needed to use deodorant. "Just calmly tell the Aspie what he's doing wrong," she suggests. "Don't yell at him."

Deutsch agrees. "Lay out the behaviors that are causing issues," he says. Those can include eye contact, standing too close or too far away from other people, and voice tone and volume. "The normal mind tends to be too vague," adds Grandin. "The Asperger's mind sees the details."
Grandin says that people with Asperger's also tend to be extrasensitive to their environment, including lighting and ambient noise. She says fluorescent lights often pose a problem. "They can see the flicker in the bulbs," she says. "It's like being in the middle of a discotheque." People with Asperger's need peace, quiet and solitude. "If you put them in a cubicle by the coffee machine, that's not going to work," Grandin says.

Perhaps the most useful coping mechanism for working with Aspies is to recognize that they have limitations. For instance, many people with Asperger's have trouble looking others in the eye. "Just accept that that's the way it is," Grandin says.

She's Leaving Home

I have hugged goodbye my best Florida Friend. Elanor is leaving for MI. I am now without a fitness buddy, Graphic Design Tutor, Lunch buddy, and a dinner guest at our house for my wife and I. We, and Colbert Fluffy Lerner will miss her extremely much. We are very happy for her. I am reminded of a Beatles song missing from the calendar she helped me make. (The lyrics don't apply) It is from the most outstanding record album ever released. To the right, is a stamp that she helped me with. I have completely finished constructing my 3 final furniture pieces, and my office.
