Ron Paul, ASpie for President

In the great tradition of George W. Bush's rumored undiagnosed learning disabilities, might Ron Paul, the libertarian/Republican/racialist candidate for president, have a hidden disorder of his own? Could Paul have Asperger's Syndrome, the autism spectrum disorder characterized by extremely awkward social interactions along with obsessive behaviors and interests? If you've seen Ron Paul on television recently—or taken a glimpse at his platform—there's no question he displays the symptoms.
When he came out to greet Jay Leno on Monday night, Paul walked with his eyes down to the ground. He didn't look his host in the eye (another symptom!), and cackled—grossly inappropriately for a presidential candidate—every time he brought up America's train wreck of an economy (the joke, after all, is on all of us). Check one for impaired social interaction.
As for obsessive behavior: If you're not one of the seven people who have ever cared about the gold standard, it would seem that this is something of an obsessive interest for Ron Paul. It's like a 19th-century version of World of Warcraft.
Even if Paul doesn't have Asperger's, many of his supporters may. Tech-nerds are disproportionately affected by the syndrome, and Paul's campaign—driven by online "viral marketing" —is disproportionately affected by tech-nerds.
At wrongplanet.net, the online Asperger's hangout, there's plenty of talk about the Ron Paul Revolution. According to one thread, Paul "stims," or suffers from repeated body twitches body movements, another symptom of Asperger's. On WrongPlanet, there's also a 14-page thread for Ron Paul fans. Elsewhere on the Internet, there's even a fake, tongue-in-cheek "Aspies for Ron Paul" homepage.
It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Paul's techie, nerd-heavy base would suffer from Asperger's. In Ron Paul's universe, meet-ups don't necessarily happen in real life; just last week, there was a 240-strong World of Warcraft rally in which avatars from across the nation came together. According to the World of Warcraft Insider, "The rally started outside Ironforge with approximately 240 players (with 400 members in their RP Revolution guild) and traveled to Stormwind, Westfall, Booty Bay, Ratchet, and finally Orgrimmar." You can't get more Aspie than that.
So there's some good news: Even if Ron Paul doesn't win the election—and let's admit it, there's no chance he will—we can still go back to the gold standard, or at least our Aspie Warcraft avatars can.

Groundhog Day may be my favorite holiday. It is on every February 2, each year over and over again, like clockwork. Whether or not we continue to experience cold days over and over again, is determined by whether humans believe if an animal sees his shadow or not. It is also one of my favorite movies. It is in my favorite genre of Speculative Fiction, as phrased by a favorite author of mine in 1976, Kurt Vonnegut. When my Nieces were young girls, I told them my favorite book was "Breakfast of Champions". This is a book by him. They thought I was talking about the movie called "The Breakfast Club". Groundhog Day is an existential story of a person's journey towards personal growth. It stars favorite actors of mine. They include Bill Murray, who usually portrays personality and charters most similar to me of all celebrities. It also stars Andi MacDowell, who was born the same 1958 year as myself. The 1993 movie is a timeless, rare brilliant romantic comedy, that I don't mind watching over and over and over again. Today's posting will remain a tribute to this day, and the motion picture. Live each day as your only day. It may be the first and or last day of the rest of your life. De Ja Vu. What say you? I'd like to know. 2/2/07 is this original post.

With Dennis Kucinich dropping out the Presidential campaign, and my conscience at peace, I voted in the Florida Primary for the best woman who will be the next President of the United States.

I look forward to John Edwards loosing in South Carolina, and Rudy loosing in both Florida and NY. John McCain will be the one to loose the general election in November.

The deceiving despot of Dick Cheny's independent subversive government, who has helped to destroy our world for eight years will be leaving office one year from tomorrow. Then we will have the second eight more years of Hill and Bill back in Capitol Hill. The BUllSHit will be out of the White House. "W" is for Woman and White house. Florida will start bringing Hillary back home on January 20, 2009. We will return to positive change. The bushes will finally be uprooted from the White House. It will be the end of an error, and the beginning of a new ERA. I look forward to the Clinton/Richardson administration.

3 2 1 NASA to Nassau

My NASA area telephone number of 321-214-9855 will be blasting away. Countdown has begun for the lift off on March 25, 2008. This will be after exactly three years and two months use. 516-770-3766 has been elected to once again be my only telephone number. Vonage is giving me my last two months of service for free. I was born and grew in Nassau, the home of 516, at number 37, fifty years ago, on February 21. 1958 was also the exact same year that NASA was created!

NY beats FL in landslide!

Four out of Five voters have chosen my Long Island telephone number! Florida received zero votes! There was one non-committal voter. When I am fifty, and Hillary Clinton is the Democratic candidate for president, I will have only one telephone number.

Only one of my five phones now work fine in every respect. I purchased this one here in Florida for myself, and sent another one to Nancy. My prize state-of-the-art integrated speaker desk phone from about 1987 has recently acquired another issue. The other phone I added to my desk as a supplement, has also acquired a disability. This, along with a CID device supplement totals 3 devices on my desk. Plus I need to plug in my headset with adapter to use them at all.

My home telephone service is about $20/month including all taxes and fees, and is for 500 anytime anywhere minutes. It has a Florida Space-coast phone number of 321-214-9855. I stay in Space-Central Florida. My mobile telephone number has a Long Island or Greater New York number of 516-770-3766. It is also about $20/month, and for 750 anytime anywhere minutes.

I use the phone in total about 250 hours/month. I have therefore concluded that eliminating my home phone service would save me $20, and the space taken up by my 6 telephone devices.

There are 3 primary callers to me, and all from the Greater New York area. They are also the ones I call and spend the most time with on the phone.

Nancy has a home phone that can only dial out to a 516 area code. Nancy can only call me at home on her mobile phone, and I then I can call her back on her home phone.

516 is within the local calling plan of Richard. If Richard calls me at 321, I must call him back on his home phone. Otherwise, he will pay extra for the long distance fees of the call. He refuses to use a VoIP like my Vonage. Michael is in the 516 area code, but uses his mobile phone. Other people I know only use mobile phones, so can they call me at either 321 or 516, and not be charged extra like Richard.

The people above are mostly what my telephone service is for. Sprint and Vonage have consistently proved difficult and problematic in porting numbers. I have therefore concluded that it is most sensible to keep my 516 number on my mobile phone, and do away with my 321 home number.

What is your opinion? I'd like to know. Which number should stay, and which number should go? 516-NY or 321-FL? Vote for my primary number!

1 Day Oil Lasts 1 Month!

10/20/07: I had a prescription to take 4 x 1000mg (4g) of fish oil gel-caps per day. This cost me $39.76 for a 30 day supply (120) under the brand name of Lavaza or Omacor. My insurance company paid another $120.23 for this. I purchased a non-prescription (OTC) amount of (200) x 1200mg softgels for $14.00. This had saved me $33.46 per month.

NOW, I just purchased the same exact container again! I just paid $3.79 at Walgreens for Theragran-M Fish Oil! These are 200: 1200mg softgels! This is less than two cents per tab, and $1.73/month. I am saving myself alone, $38.03/month, and $456.37/year!

Convergys Lake Mary

I have been working on Convergy's Client account for Charter Communications, since 11/21/05. Until October 2007, it has been Telephone Customer Service for their cable VoIP hybrid telephone service. When hired, we were given the impression that it would not be a sales oriented position. Many of us, including myself have ethics, and lack the interest, willingness and skill for sales.

Since October, many policy changes came into effect. Some were done without any warning or explanation.

1. Most of our stations have been eliminated.


2. Our supervisors are changed as frequently as every week or two. We are often not given any coaching sessions or team meetings. Many of our Team Leaders have resigned, or transfered to other client accounts.


3. Places, where information on our job is provided for us, is constantly changed, and we are not told were it would then be provided.


4. When finally find on our own, information on the correct transfer numbers, a supervisor removes it from our our private notebooks, and not told how to get this information on KMS. We might learn about how, from other Agents on our breaks. It is listed under Cincinnati, instead of our location on KMS! I had to borrow a surviving worn folded list from a peer's pocket, to rewrite it all by hand quickly while I am on a call.


5. The fifty cents per hour we earned, for working during evening and weekend hours, ceased to be paid to us.


6. Our schedules were radically changed against our preferences. I used to work days, with weekends off. I now work nights and weekends


7. We have to work on holidays, and do not necessarily have an extra day off that week.


8. We were switched from Telephone Billing to Television Repair. At training we were told that upper management wanted our call center to be technical oriented.


9. We were then told we are in a sales call center, and that 75% of our performance rating is now based on how high our sales are. We were not given any substantial or formal training in sales, the products we sell, or how to enter the orders.


10. We are no longer allowed to have any time between our calls. We are harassed by telephone calls from our staff, if there are seconds between our receiving calls.


11. As of January, we will be sent home and not paid if we do not wear certain kinds of clothing.


12. We are required to set up our computer stations during our own time. When our stations are given away during our lunch, we must do that all over again, and not be paid for it. In addition, if we are not clocked back into our computers after exactly 60 minutes or 15 minutes, it is a serious infraction, that we are scolded for. If we clock-in five minutes late, we are reported as leaving early, which constitutes job abandonment, and can result in termination.


13. We are penalized for being on a call too long. During the call, we have to show empathy to irate customers with poor service, fix their TV technical issues, sell them products, overcome their objections, put in the order, and make detailed notes notes in their accounts all while keeping them on the telephone until we are finished.


14. We are not given time to read about constant changes in how we need to do our job, while we are getting paid, and not allowed to do so without pay when we are not scheduled.

Here is a letter I sent to Human Resources Payroll, and their reply:

For several weeks now, I have not received an additional amount per hour that I work in the evening, or on Sunday or Saturday. Why is this? Also, after starting my shift in the morning, and being off Sundays and Saturdays for most of my two years here, this has changed. Why is this? Without warning or explanation, I am suddenly given an exclusive night closing schedule, and well as working both Sundays and Saturdays. Why is this so? This means I am due an even greater amount of differential pay. It is as if you are forcing me to work harder, to eliminate my accommodations, and then not pay me for it. This is among many policy changes lately that has changed my plan to continue working for Convergys for about twenty years. I plan to write you future letters outlining the oppressive and unfair ways you are treating me as an employee. I no longer feel valued by you. The differential pay should be an additional hourly pay of $0.50 per hour that I work during a evening, Sunday or Saturday. My Team Leader has sent letters to answer my questions. She or I have not received answers. Give my answers. Pay me what you agreed to pay me for working for you.

More Days

On Sunday, 12/23/07, I had my first chance to first find out my schedule for the week beginning next Sunday 12/30/07. It has me off Tuesday 1/1,2,3/08. This causes me much distress. I would much prefer to work these regular work days, and have Friday 1/4/08 and Saturday 1/5/08 off. Management has been begging for Agents to work the days that they assigned me off.

Off Days

It bothers me much not to have Friday and Saturday off each week. I have a regimented schedule to do certain tasks every seven days consistently. Also, this encompasses the Sabbath or day of rest, and is not a workday. I can get much more done on a Friday than on a Sunday, since everyone else is working. I also am distressed not to have my two days off consecutively. For this reason, I have programmed my days off as my first priority. My workweek starts with Sunday, and ends with Saturday. Therefore, my preferences, in order of most desired first, are: Friday & Saturday, Thursday & Friday, Wednesday & Thursday, Tuesday & Wednesday, Monday & Tuesday, and Sunday & Monday. So far I have been given my first three choices these past few weeks. This week, it is back to Friday & Saturday, 12/20&21/07.

I just found out, what my schedule is, for next week. Imagine my dismay, finding that I have only Monday and Tuesday off! I do not know why this was done. I was given no explanation. This would mean only working the one regular workday of Sunday, and then having two days off again! Then I might have to work the next nine days in a row! Besides that, many people are not working on this particular Monday and Tuesday, preventing my productivity! These days off dates are December 24 and 25. They are the most lonely and depressing days of the year! I have nothing better to do than to work. I had to trade these two days with two other people’s days off in order to get Thursday and Friday off next week! That is the time I would then need to do my weekly laundry, groceries, postal mail, dishes, refuse, shave, pills, and cleaning!
