1918 is the year my mother was born. Her father, and my my maternal grandfather, Bernard is shown below. I guess he obtained this
souvenir in France in 1918, and it is one of the few of her cherished
possessions that my mother was able to protect from being discarded. I wish I knew of my mother's family.
Today is my mother's birthday of 90 years ago. This is Flag day. I was born in 1958, 40 years later. I believe I am the first one to be born in Long Island. I believe my Mother was born, and grew up in The Bronx . Her father died when she was 11 or 12. He was born in Lithuania. Her mother was born in Hungary, and died before I was born. Consequently, I am named Andrew after her name of Ana.
